As a movement that began in 1850s France, realism continues to grow and evolve to this day. Without a focus on a concept or the abstract, realism shines in the portrayal of the visual: artists interpret the world, reality, life, and everyday objects with their own flair though painting. The art form has a long-standing history in Eastern Canada, and is still alive and well among maritime artists. To celebrate its ties in our region, October’s exhibit at Gallery 78 is a stunning collection of realist works from Atlantic Canadian artists. This exhibition of natural landscapes, figures, built environments, objects, and photorealist still lifes, is a treat for the eyes.
This exhibition continues until October 29, 2017. It is available to view on-line at gallery78.com. We look forward to your visit!
