The Yellow Curtain
6/20/2015 - 7/11/2015
Ahbyah Baker, Kuh Del Rosario, Jessica Groome, Deirdre McAdams, curated by Darius Stein.
The title of the exhibition loosely references the painting, “The Yellow Curtain”, 1915, by Henri Matisse. This painting represents a marked departure in Matisse’s painting practice from the world of appearances to one of almost complete abstraction. Matisse relies heavily on strong figure ground contrasts, colour relationships, and contour to guide the viewer throughout the composition. These four artists rely on similar formal devices to structure their compositions creating innovative approaches to shape, form, colour and space. image: Jessica Groome, Breezer, 2015
