Julian Forrest: ‘This Is Not A Century For Paradises’

Opening Reception: Thursday, March 15th from 7-9 pm

Artist Q & A: Saturday, March 17th at 4pm

Join us for the opening reception of Julian Forrest’s newest exhibition: ‘This Is Not A Century For Paradises’. The exhibition features large scale paintings that explore themes of place/displacement, migration, masculinities, and mythic notions of the Wild West. “In these paintings I mine personal memories and histories, and create fictional characters that I can coax into some semi-cohesive, and hopefully poetic narrative. Like good literary fiction, good painting needs to unearth a known truth – to make something from something, as the writer Etgar Keret once noted.” – JF

Julian Forrest was the 2015 recipient of the Eldon and Anne Foote Visual Arts Prize.
