My fellow members and happy Spring! With the sun beginning to shine and the days beginning to warm, I am sure you are all preparing for what is typically one of the busiest times of year for our industry.
While there are still some lockdowns occurring in provinces there have been some positive developments, as vaccines are beginning to roll out (albeit slowly) and the Federal Government has just put forward a budget that includes continued support for small businesses.
Over the last four months your association has been hard at work. We have completed a member survey that has provided positive feedback on what you would like to see from your association this year and in the future; our Communications team has revamped the ADAC website and increased our social media presence from coast to coast to coast; our offices are in the final stages of preparing the updated member benefits package for the coming year with a focus on cost savings to provide all members with an opportunity to help improve their bottom line.
While cost savings are of great importance so too are trust and expertise, perhaps now more than ever, as more and more business is being transacted online and new clients are looking for galleries to provide them with excellent service. Being an ADAC member is exactly that, an important differentiator in our industry that allows you to build trust with new and existing clients. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to include the ADAC logo in your communications with clients and to add it to your website.
Finally, the Federal Government recently announced that they will begin a review of the Copyright Act and this will most likely have an impact on digital content and a potential Artist Resale Right. Our Advocacy Committee has already engaged with the Minister for Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and the Minister of Canadian Heritage to ensure our members’ concerns are heard.
As always, if you wish to reach out to us our Executive Director, Emma Roberts, is always happy to hear from you. Emma can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
My best to you all,
