Avrom Isaacs Critical Writing Award
ABOUT
The Avrom Isaacs Critical Writing Award celebrates and supports the next generation of Canadian art writers at a time when critical discourse is increasingly being under funded, and diminishing from our communities.
This award is open to graduate students across Canada studying art history or writing theory, as it recognizes original, insightful, and rigorous writing that advances conversations around contemporary and historical art. This award is given biannually across Canada.
THE AWARD
Three recipients across Canada will each receive a $1,500 CAD prize, with the possibility of having a piece published in a leading Canadian writing forum. Recipients will also have their reviews digitized and featured on the ADAC website and social platforms, amplifying emerging voices nationally.
This award honors Avrom Isaacs’ legacy of Canadian art dealing and the celebration of artists by reaffirming the essential role of critical writing in sustaining a vibrant and engaged art ecosystem in Canada.
