Newzones Gallery is pleased to announce Reflections and Recollections, a solo exhibition of new work by Toronto-based contemporary photographer, Joshua Jensen-Nagle, known globally for his dreamy large-scale photographs, created to capture a feeling.
Jensen-Nagle’s exhibition Reflections and Recollections delves into his ongoing series Endless Summer, which seeks to capture the timeless, evocative essence of the beach – a place where memories are made, and where the passage of time feels suspended. Reflections and Recollections is an exploration of how individuals hold onto memories, how they shape identity, and continue to resonate long after the moment has passed. Through the lens of nostalgia, the beach becomes a symbol of both personal and collective reflection.
Through this body of work, Jensen-Nagle focuses on the quiet interplay between light, form, and movement – moments where the past and present merge, creating a space for contemplation. The figures in these photographs are often abstracted, blending into their surroundings as if they are not only participants in the scene, but also part of the memory itself. Their silhouettes dissolve into the composition, emphasizing the fluidity of time and the impermanence of the present moment.
