WILLY RAMOS evokes beauty in his paintings. They are light, buoyant, absorbent, and contagious. They are paintings that we want to see and to enjoy over and over. Like the first chord of flamenco, we feel the pulse of his sympathetic vision, the lightness of his stroke. We feel an immediate sensory contact with his tactile surfaces. Whether Ramos paints the figure, a bouquet of flowers, a bustling cityscape, or an abstract composition, his colours are vibrant, his brushstrokes are deliberate, and his light is pervasive. Ramos is an artist who indulges himself in a painting. What we feel from his painting is related to how we remember what is most simple and most significant. In front of the artist’s impression of this botanic garden, we may recall a perception that is our own, a perception that blends into an array of colour, splendors of nature that shatter the light in the spectrum before the eye.
Exhibition on from June 13th - July 6th.
