Aoudla Pudlat (1951-2006), was a prolific and skilled printmaker and illustrator from Kinngait, who started his artistic journey in the 1970s. After apprenticing at Kinngait Studios, Pudlat made his debut in the Cape Dorset Annual Print Collection in 1980. His innovative approach was evident in the contrast between his highly stylized drawings and photorealistic renderings. These drawings of birds highlighted not only his meticulous attention to detail but also his talent for experimenting with composition and framing. Throughout his artistic career, Pudlat consistently defied expectations, both at the time of his releases in the 1980s and continuing to do so over 30 years later.
