“Night on the Sun” was inspired by the artist’s experiences on an island in Georgian Bay. Upon his first visit there, the artist felt this was his spiritual home. His cabin was built on a high granite cliff which provided exceptional views. Elemental wildness and purity of the area provided nourishment for all of Drapell’s abstraction. Dark nights on the island introduced the artist to astronomy. This profound experience has led the artist to this recent body of work. Internationally celebrated artist Joseph Drapell astonishes us again in this exhibition with colourful new developments to his signature style "Compression Technique" of painting.
